Marble Pound Cake

For my first recipe of 2015, I decided to make this simple yet enticing marble pound cake. Certainly, I have to practice the art of “marbling” different batters, in this case chocolate and vanilla,  but I think that for a first it came out pretty good. Truth be told, I was a bit worried as I was putting the batter in the loaf pan as it was very thick. However, it came out perfectly!

Angel Food Cake

I quickly discovered that after making crème brûlées, there is the inevitable “problem” of having 6-8 leftover egg whites. What is one to do with 8 egg whites? is the question I asked myself after having made and devoured last week’s dessert. It suddenly came to me that I had once stumbled upon in this wonderful cookbook a recipe for angel food cake, which requires a lot of egg whites! This is the simple story of why I decided to make an angel food cake for my friend’s baby shower.

Fresh Fruit Pie

I used to be horrendous at making pie dough and pies in general, for that matter, but I think that I’m getting the hang of it! I love this recipe because it is universal and can be adapted to most fresh fruit that you have in your fridge! The ratios of fruit to sugar to thickener is simply perfect and makes for a scrumptious, fresh-tasting pie whose filling is both adequately juicy and thick at the same time. Briefly, this fresh fruit pie is just right.

Lemon Posset

Who doesn’t love a good lemon dessert? It feels light, refreshing and tends to make you feel less guilty than eating a piece of double chocolate cake with caramel frosting. This dessert is one of the simplest, fastest and most scrumptious desserts that I have ever made. It takes less than 5 minutes to make and best of all requires no baking! With its rich lemon flavour it is sure to be a people-pleaser wherever you may bring them.

These almond cookies are very good and taste a lot like macarons ! They are crunchy on the outside but have a softer centre. What I particularly enjoy about this recipe is that it is simple to do and generates a lot of (small) cookies.

White Chocolate Raspberry Lime Cheesecake

Oh how I love the richness and sweetness of cheesecakes. So much deliciousness in one dessert is probably frowned upon in some parts of the world (sadly!). This recipe is very unique in the sense that it is at least as good as a traditional cheesecake, but contains fresh raspberries and also has hints of lime and white chocolate.

Oat and Dried Fruit Squares

I was way overdue to make some granola bar of some sort. I had some doubts with this recipe, not because I didn’t trust it but rather because I have never been a fan of dried fruits. However, this recipe yields filling and tasty oat and fruit bars.

Chewy Brownies

Some people are not as fortunate as others and are gluten-intolerant or even allergic. What made me grasp how much gluten is present is that whenever I bring baked goods to work, which is pretty often, a friend of mine who is gluten-intolerant can never eat anything I make. I told her I would make her a dessert that she could actually enjoy one day, so these chewy gluten-free brownies are for her.
